Nathan A. Chipman
Outstanding Affiliate Faculty Award

LeRoy C. Meyer is well versed in academic knowledge and practical experience in the field of electrical engineering, but to University of Idaho students, it is his concern for their preparation and development that stands out.

After a stint in the U. S. Marine Corps, during which he taught courses to U.S. Navy and Marine personnel, Mr. Meyer earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from North Dakota State University. While working on a master's degree in the same field, he supplemented his experience by teaching courses at North Dakota State. A move to New Mexico to seek a doctoral degree in his field led to his right to be called Dr. Meyer in 1965. He began working for EG&G in Albuquerque that same year. He transferred to Denver for a year until the opportunity arose to move to Idaho Falls in 1977.

Mr. Meyer's research interests include electroluminescence, radiation effects on electronics, microelectronics and microcircuits. He has researched and published on the topic of the effects of aging nuclear plants. He is a member of the American Nuclear Society and the Institute of Electronics and Electrical Engineers.

While working for EG&G in Idaho Falls, Mr. Meyer began to teach night classes for the University of Idaho. He taught circuits and other electrical and computer engineering courses from 1987-2002. Mr. Meyer's dedication to the students' learning was evident in the amount of time that he took with each student.

By presenting the Nathan A. Chipman Outstanding Affiliate Faculty Award to LeRoy Meyer, the University of Idaho-Idaho Falls wishes to commend and thank LeRoy for his work on behalf of our students and programs.
