Presidents Medallion
Delbert Farmer, community and business leader and former
chairman of the Shoshone-Bannock Indian Tribe. Delbert Farmer received
his bachelor's degree in animal science in 1970 from the University of
Idaho.
As a strong advocate for higher education for Indian people, Mr. Farmer
established an academic scholarship for members of he Shoshone-Bannock
tribe. He is an artist with several pieces of art related to the Lewis
and Clark Expedition in his portfolio. He is an active leader in the community,
currently serving as Revenue Director for the Tribe and as a representative
of the Tribe on commissions and committees sucha as the Lower Snake River
Juvenile Salmon Migration Feasibility Study. He is a past member of the
Fort Hall Business Council, dance team leader for the International Folkdance
Festival and past chairman of the Shoshone-Bannock Festival.
The Shoshone-Bannock Tribe was part of the welcoming group for athletes
and cultural ceremonies participants by special invitation of the 2002
Salt Lake City Olympics Organizing Committee. The tribe, under the direction
of Mr. Farmer, was the representative for more than 500 tribes from across
the United States
