John D. Hansen, trial
lawyer, civic leader and former state senator is a partner in the firm
of Hopkins, Roden, Crockett, Hansen and Hoopes in Idaho Falls and Boise.
Mr. Hansen practices law involving real estate, probate, estate planning
and water issues. He began his legal career in 1959 after earning degrees
in agricultural economics and law from the University of Idaho.
Mr. Hansen is a past member
of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Idaho Trial Lawyers
Association and a current member of the Idaho State Bar Association and
the Seventh Judicial District Bar Association. He was past-president of
the Seventh Judicial District Bar Association and has served the profession
as a member of various Supreme Court, state and local bar committees.
He is a recipient of the Idaho State Bar 2002 Professionalism Award.
Elected to the Idaho State
Senate in 1986, Mr. Hansen served six consecutive terms ending in 1998.
During his tenure in the Senate he held positions on numerous committees.
As a strong advocate for education, he has also been a member of the Idaho
State Board of Education’s “Most” Standards Committee.
During his career, Mr. Hansen has served in a leadership capacity for
a variety of civic and community groups. He is currently a board member
of the Idaho Heritage Trust and past chairman of the Idaho Falls Higher
Education Advisory Council.
