Recognition of Service
Former Director of the University of Idaho Idaho Falls Center for Higher Education and a 2000 recipient of the President's Medallion Award, Dr. Fred. H. Tingey has been recognized by the Idaho State Board of Education, the University of Idaho and the University of Idaho Foundation for his contributions to higher education. The office building at University Place in Idaho Falls will be renamed the Fred H. Tingey Administration Building.
The building stands in honor of one of eastern Idaho's most accomplished educational leaders. Dr.Tingey served as director of the University of Idaho's Idaho Falls Center from 1979-1995. Under his leadership, the center grew from providing technical education to INEEL employees to delivering undergraduate and graduate degree programs to all the residents of eastern Idaho. As a long-time community leader, he played a central role in the University of Idaho Foundation's acquisition of University Place, which enabled the University of Idaho to consolidate its Idaho Falls services in one location.
