University of Idaho at Idaho Falls HydroGeology Program

The University of Idaho offers MS and PhD degrees in Hydrology both in Moscow and in Idaho Falls.  The program is administered from the Department of Geological Sciences in the College of Mines and Earth Resources.

The Hydrology program has a practical emphasis, primarily preparing graduates for careers in consulting, industry, and government.  Most of the required classes emphasize ground water hydrology; however, an emphasis on surface water systems can be developed through appropriate selection of elective classes.  The University of Idaho has a strong presence of Hydrology faculty and scientists in the Idaho Falls facilities.  One full-time Hydrology faculty member is located in Idaho Falls, along with five or more scientists associated with the Idaho Water Resources Research Institute.  These individuals, along with scientists from the INEEL and state agencies, serve to provide a well-rounded educational experience for Idaho Falls Hydrology students.  Enrollment in the Idaho Falls Hydrology program ranges between about 10 and 15 students.
